Our Jewish Federation has a rich, 100+ year history in the Dayton area of connecting local Jewish communities with Jewish communities abroad. From our partnership program to the Western Galilee and the myriads of relief and absorption campaigns the Federation ran from the 1920s and into the 1990s, to supporting countless missions overseas that encouraged local Jews to build their relationships with Israel and to delve deep into the Jewish culture, the Jewish Federation of Greater Dayton has been there to bridge the gap and provide support locally, in Israel, and around the world.

We are seeking a Part Time (15-20 hours a week) Jewish Community Relations Director to join our team dedicated to fulfilling our mission

Job Summary

The Jewish Community Relations (JCR) Director is responsible for managing the public affairs arm of the Jewish Federation of Greater Dayton. In this capacity the JCR Director will work with and lead a volunteer committee, the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC), dedicated to educating the Jewish community on a broad range of issues, building consensus, and representing the Jewish community to the non-Jewish community.

Responsibilities:

Coordinatea programs designed to educate the Jewish community on a range of public affairs topics including Israel and International Affairs, Jewish security and civil rights, intergroup relations, and social justice.
Develop leadership and work with diverse constituencies in the Jewish community to enable the JCRC to continue to reflect political, religious, and geographical balance as well as a commitment to use a deliberative and respectful process to debate complex issues and where appropriate shape consensus.
Represent the interests of Jewish community to the non-Jewish community through coalition building and maintaining a broad network of contacts among leaders in religious, civic, and political affairs as well as the media.
Enablethe JCRC to serve as a clearinghouse for information on the local Jewish community for internal and external sources.

At least a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field of study, a Master’s degree preferred)
Minimum of three years of professional experience in a community organization or the equivalent
Outstanding writing and interpersonal skills
Energetic hands on professional
Excellent presentation skills
Outstanding conflict resolution skills
Demonstrated skills in consensus building
Strong knowledge of Jewish practices, customs, history, and community organization is essential.
