Job Description.

"OBJECTIVE: Indiana United Ways is the state association that works with Indiana's 52 United Ways and 8 United Funds to create a thriving United Way network. This key position engages and guides members through community impact work, outcomes measurement, public policy, and other special projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Supports local United Ways in implementing effective community impact work in Education and Financial Stability and to incorporate the enterprise-wide Global Results Framework to measure and report outcomes. Collaborates with staff, volunteers, board members and partner organizations to further the mission and work of IndianaÍs United Ways. Plans and executes strategies to build public policy capacity of IndianaÍs United Ways, incorporate advocacy into the impact strategies of local United Ways, and works to build collaborative relationships with elected officials, businesses and nonprofit partners. Specific responsibilities and projects include:

Community Impact:

‡ Engage members and stakeholders with the United Way ALICE¬ Project.

‡ Analyze statewide data and create custom county-level reports and tools as requested to support our membersÍ impact work in the areas of education, financial stability and health.

‡ Implements programming with key Community Impact staff at local United Ways to meet shared goals.

‡ Work collaboratively with VP of Community Impact & Resource Development in grant writing and other resource development activities around education and financial stability, including workforce development; track and analyze the impact our members are creating locally.

‡ Stay updated and informed on community impact best practices and trends.

Outcomes:

‡ Develop expertise on the United Way Worldwide Global Results Framework in order to assist local United Ways in collecting and reporting quality data.

‡ Provide support to United Ways in connecting their outputs and outcomes with relevant partners on key shared goal areas.

Public Policy:

‡ Research and stay informed of statewide and community issues; maintain relationships with statewide leaders and stakeholders to reach common goals.

‡ Develop and implement policy agenda with guidance from policy committee and board of directors.

‡ Coordinate engagement of local United Ways at the Statehouse, year-round with legislators in home districts, and targeted activism or testimony on priority issues.

‡ Engage members and volunteers through grassroots advocacy including the public policy newsletter, in-district events, statehouse days and third house session communications.

‡ Provide specific talking points, supportive data and background information on policy issues to our members and volunteers.

‡ Provide technical assistance to members regarding local, state and federal policy work.

Required Qualifications.

Education and/or Experience:

· Bachelor's degree in social sciences required. Master’s degree preferred.
· Strong knowledge and experience working in education and/or workforce development.
· Experience leading projects and working in community impact; familiarity with outcome and impact metrics.
· Knowledge of Indiana and its political, demographic and socioeconomic landscape.
· Experience in data analysis and evidence-based practices.
· Experience working with volunteers.
· Ability to persuade others, skills in consultative selling.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office computer applications.
· High level of prioritization and organization skills.
· Strong written and verbal communication, experience public speaking to small and large audiences.
· Ability to manage multiple projects with set deadlines/guidelines.
· Demonstrated ability to work within a team-based environment.
· Ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse population.
