Job Description.
The Washington State Democrats’ Coordinated Campaign strives to lead an innovative, data-driven voter mobilization program through the implementation of a state-wide, direct voter contact effort. This effort will surpass traditional get-out-the-vote programming with creative, community-specific organizing tactics, a comprehensive digital outreach regime, and a thoughtful power building approach rooted in a philosophy of enduring strength through long-term grassroots capacity development. The Coordinated Campaign will lead with the reelection of Maria Cantwell to Senate and focus on congressional and legislative victories.
The Coordinated Campaign is currently hiring for the position of Field Director, an opportunity for an experienced campaign professional with a proven history of leading regional teams focused on direct voter contact activities. In cooperation with the Coordinated Campaign Director and Data Director, they will construct, execute, and manage the statewide field program through the 2018 campaign cycle.
This position will:
• Write and implement a data-driven field plan encompassing voter contact, volunteer recruitment, grassroots development, and GOTV goals.
• Directly manage and train a team of regional field directors and all field staff in Washington State.
• Create clear, transparent processes for voter contact goal construction, accountability, and reporting for all field staff.
• In cooperation with the Data Director, create rigorous standards for data collection and use within the NGP/VAN platform.
• Work with the Data Director and other senior staff to construct and integrate a coherent digital engagement program to supplement direct voter contact activities.
• Work to create a professional staff culture that that is upbeat and empowering, with a mind towards greater inclusion, a customer-service attitude, and willingness to solve problems creatively.
• Lead programming to engage diverse communities in each region of Washington state, and hold the field team accountable to an inclusive outreach strategy.
Required Qualifications.
Minimum Experience & Skills
• 3+ years of statewide campaign management experience; previous experience working on statewide or competitive electoral campaigns strongly preferred • Experience developing successful statewide campaign plans targeting and field activities
• Ability to work quickly under pressure and juggle several projects at once under tight deadlines
• Comfort with representing the Coordinated Campaign at meetings and events
• Expertise with NGP/VAN platform
• Demonstrated experience managing, leading and motivating large political coalitions and working with a diverse set of stakeholders towards common goals and a cohesive political strategy
• Attention to detail and ability to manage large quantities of information quickly and accurately
• Finely attuned knowledge of the political and progressive landscape in Washington State
• Good judgment, ability to manage sensitive political situations, and highly personable
• Fluency working with modern campaign tools and techniques and compliance rules and regulations
The person in this position will be expected to work irregular hours, including nights and weekends, and must have access to a laptop and reliable car transportation for the duration of the campaign.
