Summary:

The Regional Synagogue Initiative Director will help grow the pro-Israel movement in the Southwest region by organizing and expanding AIPAC’s presence in key synagogues. By building relationships with clergy and synagogue lay-leaders in targeted congregations, this person will help educate them about issues affecting Israel, train them to become pro-Israel political activists, and inspire them to greater involvement with AIPAC.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Cultivate congregational lay-leadership to:

Model pro-Israel activism and recruit new activists

Organize pro-Israel congregants at the synagogue level

Integrate lay-leaders into larger AIPAC community

Work with rabbinic leadership to:

Increase pro-Israel political activism among synagogue leadership and congregants

Create programming and networking opportunities for rabbis at local, regional and national level

Identify and solicit potential and current AIPAC donors

Represent AIPAC, including public speaking, at synagogue and regional events

Work with national and regional staff to determine which synagogues to target, develop a work plan for engaging targeted synagogues and oversee the plan’s implementation

Other duties as assigned by the National Synagogue Initiative Director or Southwest Regional Director

Qualifications & Skills:

Passion for Israel as well as AIPAC’s mission

Five years' experience in a related field

Understanding of synagogue and rabbinic communities

Development experience

Ability to work with all streams of Judaism

Bachelor’s degree preferred or commensurate experience

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Excellent organizational skills

Travel required
