Job Description.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Develops communications to policymakers on Capitol Hill, influencers and think tanks, including the content and production of:
- Hill memos, bill summaries, and innovative fact sheets, as well as an annual 65-page briefing book provided to every candidate and incoming member of Congress.
- Op-eds, press releases, and statements.
- AIPAC’s monthly scholarly journal Near East Report.
- Three monthly policy newsletters, Defense Digest, Energy Matters, and Homeland Security Monitor.
- Maintenance of a master production schedule of policy communications in coordination with Congressional calendar.
A range of email and lobbying print products centered around the annual AIPAC Policy Conference legislative agenda that prepares Hill offices for meetings with AIPAC delegates and conveys the strength and values of the pro-Israel movement.
Develops communications to AIPAC members, including the content and production of:
- Policy-related board communications, including fact sheets, FAQs and talking points.
- Action Alert emails to membership that drive political mobilizations.
- Weekly publications for Synagogue Initiative, and significant input into its annual 85-page High Holiday Resource Guide.
- A range of emails and on-site print products that educate delegates about the AIPAC Policy Conference legislative agenda and the full-range of AIPAC’s pro-Israel priorities.
- Emails to non-delegates about exciting and influential speakers, how to watch remotely, the AIPAC Policy Conference legislative agenda, the strength of the pro-Israel movement, and the importance of attending next year.
Develops communications to the public, including:
- Look, feel, placement and content of AIPAC.org website.
- Select content on AIPAC’s three social media channels.
- Policy-related mainstage event scripts and on-site updates for annual AIPAC Policy Conference.
- Assists with maintaining internal communications, including:
- Content and production of internal guidance and talking points.
- Establishment and maintenance of policy content on the AIPAC intranet.
- Conducts meaningful and thorough policy and political research so as to best advise senior staff on AIPAC related issues.
- Builds and fosters collaborative relationship with other departments across AIPAC and with specific AIPAC internal clients to provide policy communications support, to stay informed and abreast of new initiatives, and to integrate their efforts within the broader communications program.
- Maintains continuous communications with departments across AIPAC’s Policy and Politics to strategize and to ensure the needs of clients are met, to coordinate creative efforts (graphic design, video, images), and to review and prioritize the production schedule.
- Develops and implements methods of review and analysis to gauge effectiveness of products; provides counsel to AIPAC leadership regarding communications timing and channels.
- Directly manages one staff member and up to two departmental interns.
Assists Director of Communications with the following department efforts:
- To create, implement, and update a strategic, multi-faceted communications program designed to build and strengthen the organization's mission, goals, and reputation;
- To identify emerging opportunities to support organizational initiatives and to develop communications materials and programs to support these activities;
- To help with quality control and copyediting of policy communications materials;
- To devise communications guidelines, processes, policies, and procedures; and
- To oversee implementation processes and provide quality control for communications programs.
- Develops meaningful and lasting relationships on behalf of AIPAC with other pro-Israel organizations and individuals.
Required Qualifications.
Passion for a strong U.S. - Israel relationship a must
Bachelor’s degree preferred or commensurate experience
Minimum of 3 years of political experience
Excellent written and communication skills
Proven fundraising/solicitation skills
Attention to detail and ability to work independently
Ability to travel
Computer skills including Microsoft Office
