Job Description.
DAV is a nonprofit charity that provides a lifetime of support for veterans of all generations and their families, helping more than 1 million veterans in positive, life-changing ways each year.
Job Summary:
This position will drive the successful execution of special events that garner incremental revenue and awareness of DAV’s mission from the public. This will be accomplished by providing strategic oversight and managing teams that execute special events, including the DAV 5K National Series, and developing strategies and overseeing the implementation of all event components to ensure the desired outcomes and goals are achieved. Various reporting tools and reports will be utilized to conduct event performance analysis and further refine strategies to drive improved results.
Develop strategies and execute plans for all National DAV 5K Series events to ensure they meet and exceed the desired performance targets
Explore opportunities for expanding the DAV 5K National Series to new sites across the country
Oversee the successful implementation of DAV 5K events into expansion markets, working with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure their success
Utilize data analysis tools and reports to conduct ongoing program performance analyses that allows for the further refinement of strategies to drive improved result
Identify, solicit, and secure DAV 5K sponsorships
Provide direction and steward positive relationships with DAV Department and Chapter event partners as well as other internal and external stakeholders
Work with partner agencies to oversee the development and execution of PR and media plans across all markets
Manage, coach and develop team members to ensure they have the resources and strategic guidance to achieve their desired goals and excel in their responsibilities
Recommend agency and vendor partners involved in the planning and successful execution of special events
Maintain understanding of DAV’s mission and programs
Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications.
Essential Skills and Experience:
Minimum 5+ years of successful fundraising and special event experience or work experience in relevant fundraising or marketing fields preferred
Strong analytical skills are required with the ability to communicate verbally and in writing in a clear and accurate manner
Possess marketing knowledge with the ability to bridge between data analysis and marketing/fundraising programs
Polished verbal, written, and presentation skills
Creative problem solver
Pro-active, organized, attentive to detail, and able to prioritize well
Moderate travel is required and will include evenings and weekends
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
