Senior Public Relations Specialist
Work in the Communications Division of the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) with a team of professionals whose mission is to deliver a high-quality transportation system for Seattle.
This position works closely with SDOT divisions and communications team to plan communications strategies and proactively distribute content and information about important capital projects, modal programs and other transportation initiatives to national and local media, and community media.
Design and produce strategic editorial and thought leadership content programs for diverse audiences and media
Establish relationships with journalists, analysts and influencers with extensive media relations and influencer experience as well as campaign creation and execution
Collaborate with a team-oriented approach to leading communications projects and achieving results
Display passion for communications work and have a commitment to continuing to develop skills and learn and grow
Deliver work projects and ideas with an entrepreneurial spirit & drive
Generate content for the release of public information and news regarding projects and programs across multiple SDOT divisions to news media.
Become knowledgeable about SDOT's mission, vision and work and creating transparent messages, rollout plans, while coordinating day-today media requests and interviews with news media.

In this role, qualified candidates must be a passionate and seasoned expert who have a masterful command of media relations, strategic editorial and thought leadership content development.

Requires two years professional experience in public relations, marketing, journalism, or related field involving the preparation and distribution of public information materials
Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or related field
Ability to effectively work in a multi-cultural workplace with a diverse customer base.
Other combinations of education, training, and/or experience that provide an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class may be evaluated on an individual basis for comparability.
Current Washington State driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility.
