Lobbyist - General Government
Job Description.
Intergovernmental Relations (IGR) is seeking an experienced professional to act as a Lobbyist in the areas of taxes, general government, and infrastructure for Hennepin County (HC). This position will represent the county to legislators, their staff and state agencies, as well as provide direct advocacy strategy and tactical planning for successful adoption of the county's general government initiatives.I
Required Qualifications.
One of the following: Bachelor's degree or higher in business administration or other field appropriate to the position and five or more years of lobbying experience (defined as having been registered to lobby by a regulatory authority, compensated financially for influencing government policy or legislative action, or authorized to represent a public or private interest before a governmental agency to advance a policy objective). Experience can be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications.
Ability to: Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of employees, other stakeholders, state and federal legislators, and local and state elected or appointed government officials. Lead work groups and teams to achieve favorable results.Prepare background and analysis of tax policy, transportation, and infrastructure-related issues.
