Job Description.
Manage and coordinate PacificSource’s efforts in planning and conducting the company’s public policy and lobbying efforts in Oregon. Research legislative issues of relevance to the companies and communicate the findings of this research to various legislative and regulatory/administrative bodies for the purpose of advocating in the interest of the companies. Participate in various industry lobbying coalitions and legislative workgroups and taskforces. Coordinate with Government Relations staff in Idaho, Montana and Washington, and oversee contracted lobbyist activities. Track, analyze and form position statements on relevant legislation and public policy proposals.
Required Qualifications.
Work Experience: A minimum of five years’ experience in healthcare and health policy. Comprehensive understanding of state legislative process and structure required. Bachelor’s Degree is required, preferably in the area of public policy, political science, communication or a related field.Must understand Oregon’s legislative timelines, procedural requirements and lobby rules. Must be knowledgeable of the legislative life-cycle through bill development, passage, adoption and rulemaking. Must be able to communicate, advocate and negotiate effectively with policy-makers from all political party affiliation and stakeholders from all backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications.
Master’s Degree is preferred.
