Job Description.
The political and community organizer helps to both coordinate SEIU 775’s engagement in political and advocacy campaigns, and to build and deepen our relationships with community organizations particularly those representing people of color, immigrants, and LGBTQ communities. Through this work, the organizer will advance the goals of SEIU 775 - lifting caregivers out of poverty, transforming health and long-term care, building strong and sustainable worker organizations, and reducing inequality and increasing prosperity for all working people.
Required Qualifications.
Excellent interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds including those with different religious, ethnic, cultural, language, age, and ability backgrounds other than their own. Ability to perform outreach and interact in groups with varying cultural norms and practices as a representative of SEIU 775. Ability to work independently as well as on a team
Strong facilitation skills and the ability to steer a group towards collaborative action and decision-making while maintaining positive group dynamics Strong personal planning, motivation, problem-solving and time management skills and attention to detail. Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment. Excellent verbal, written, and digital communications skills; ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences. At least three years’ experience in political and/or advocacy and community engagement work
