Job Description.
Clout Public Affairs is hiring for a position in its Washington, D.C. office that will support a variety of clients in the corporate, association and political realms. Clout is a division of Axiom Strategies, which is the largest Republican consulting firm in the country.
Responsibilities:
Reach out to establish positive working relationships with reporters to pitch stories or manage narrative for clients
Manage reaction to media inquiries, including serving as the client’s spokesperson when appropriate
Writing, editing, and proofreading client talking points, scripts and speeches
Monitor print and online publications as well as social media for news affecting client industries and keep key audiences informed through quality media reports
Develop frequent deliverables to clients for media monitoring, press releases
Manage electronic distribution of news releases, newsletters, and other media communications
Create or maintain press contact lists for various clients’ and Axiom needs
Ensure client messages are being distributed in engaging formats, including video, infographics, slide shows, etc., and create those materials as needed
Lead weekly client conference calls, following up with notes and action items from the client team
Required Qualifications.
Three to five years of political communications experience, preferably on Capitol Hill
Relationship with reporters in Washington D.C and the ability to expand your network on national and local level
Excellent writing and editing skills
Strong interest in and knowledge of politics, government and campaigns
Self-starter who will take ownership of a process and use problem-solving skills to resolve issues
Ability to organize and manage several priorities while working under pressure and with strict deadlines
Experience creating infographics and dynamic charts, working knowledge of video-editing software a plus
Willingness to work flexible hours and when needed, including evenings and weekends.
Occasional travel
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
