Job Description.
The House Minority Research Office is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Legislative Analyst. The office is the primary research and support office for the House Minority Caucus. The position is full-time with health benefits and subsidized parking downtown.
Duties:
Perform legislative research and analysis
Draft legislative bills, resolutions, memorandums, letters, op-eds, and other communications
Identify issues, trends, and problems of significance through legislative, governmental, cultural, and media analysis
Required Qualifications.
Bachelor's degree (or higher) from an accredited college or university
Strong research, writing, analytic, and critical thinking skills
Ability to explain specialized and technical concepts quickly to legislators
Ability to produce high-quality written material under tight deadlines
Ability to multitask and manage projects, maintain confidentiality, and write and communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively
Preferred Qualifications.
Demonstrate familiarity with federal, state, and county laws, rules, organization, functions, operations, policies, programs, and procedures
Knowledge of legislative drafting techniques
Prior legislative experience
Understanding of Hawaii politics and policy issues
