Job Description.
The Government Relations Intern will assist in The VGM Group’s legislative and regulatory initiatives in the healthcare industry with research, special event planning and preparation, communication and administrative duties. Frequent interaction with government officials and VGM members will occur. The right candidate must be detail oriented, demonstrate good communication skills, and work well in a team and individual environment. T his position is a paid internship.
The work is fast-paced and deadline focused. You will be challenged to work as part of a team and autonomously on projects such as:
Compiling and documenting historical and current legislative/regulatory statutes, rules and laws relating to the healthcare industry y
Debriefing and communicating legislative actions
As an intern with VGM one will be afforded the opportunity to work and experience VGM’s unique business environment and dynamic culture. The intern must be able to handle multiple concurrent projects and be very detail oriented.
Applicants are expected to meet these qualifications to be considered for this position.
Preferably candidates should be junior or senior standing with interest and a major or minor in political science.
Solid working knowledge of Excel and relevant software such as MS-office: Word, PowerPoint etc.)
Sound interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Strong critical thinking skills and dedication to research
Client focused approach to work
Possess the ability to be independent in much of their function and to reach out when help is needed
Highly organized with the ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple, potentially conflicting deadlines with attention to detail and within agreed timelines
A flexible attitude with respect to work assignments and new learning
Shows commitment to and performs consistently high quality work
Required Qualifications.

Intense data driven research.
Be willing to take on projects and act as project manager.
Preparing correspondence, projects, and setting deadlines/completing dates.
Provide ghost writing for VGM newsletters and legislative updates provided to members.
Help prepare formal presentations.
Greeting individuals on the telephone or in person and answering or referring inquiries.
Maintain a positive, results oriented work environment, building partnerships and modelling teamwork, communicating to others in an open, balanced and objective manner.
Perform other routine administrative tasks as needed.
