Job Description.
The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) seeks a Regional Outreach Director to promote pro-Israel advocacy among religiously-motivated pro-Israel Christians in the Southeast Region. The position will be based in AIPAC’s Southeast Regional Office in Atlanta, GA. The Southeast Region covers all or part of Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia.
AIPAC has worked since 1954 to strengthen the United States-Israel relationship. AIPAC is an American organization registered to lobby Congress on legislation affecting Israel and is the political voice in Washington, DC of America’s pro-Israel community. AIPAC’s National Outreach Program seeks, among other things, to develop relationships with key members of the religiously motivated pro-Israel Christian community and encourage their involvement in political advocacy in support of the US-Israel relationship.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
The Southeast Regional Outreach Director will report to the Regional Political Director (Atlanta) and the National Christian Constituency Director (Washington, DC). The Regional Outreach Director will be responsible for the following:
Building relationships with key political, religious and community leaders within religiously motivated pro-Israel Christian communities in the Southeast Region, educating them about the US-Israel relationship and encouraging their involvement in pro-Israel politics.
Recruiting participants for regional and national AIPAC events and for AIEF educational seminars in Israel.
Maintaining and expanding relationships with Israel trip participants.
Promoting pro-Israel advocacy and political participation.
Analyzing political trends. Performing necessary research and preparing background materials and documents.
Working closely with AIPAC’s staff (regional and national) and lay leaders.
Planning and implementing meetings, speaking events, conferences and other events.
Assisting in educational meetings with candidates for federal office.
Traveling within the region frequently and to Washington, DC as needed. Traveling occasionally to Israel.
Performing other activities as assigned by the Regional Political Director or National Christian Constituency Director.
Required Qualifications.
An abiding and demonstrated commitment to advance the US-Israel relationship.
A thorough understanding of and demonstrated experience working with religiously motivated pro-Israel Christian communities and politics.
Highly intelligent with strong academic background (Bachelor’s degree minimum).
Superior organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
Team-oriented personality with can-do attitude.
Strong communication (oral and written) and research skills.
Ability to travel regularly.
Well-developed political skills, including political experience in Congress, in a state legislature or local government, on political campaigns, and/or equivalent activities, with proven ability to handle multiple tasks successfully.
