Works with developers, contractors, engineers, architects, and other agencies, including community groups to describe and explain the Unified Government's design requirements, codes, specifications, and processes. Supports businesses with development projects, assisting to provide an understanding of the permitting and inspection processes and encouraging development that maintains the integrity of the ordinances that are in place to ensure public safety. Serves as the strategic planning coordinator for the Department by creating and maintaining strategic and departmental plans as necessary. Serves as a point of contact to respond to inquiries and provide information regarding technical codes and development review and inspection processes to citizens, the department directors, the Manager's Office, and the Mayor and Commission. Interacts with development applicants, recommending viable processes and options for project development. Acts as the Unified Government's liaison in the identification and resolution of problems and/or questions relating to development and redevelopment activities. Facilitates meetings or discussions focused on problem-solving and moving public/private development projects forward. Assists in the identification and resolution of customer service complaints and technical issues by developing code compliant solutions Proactively contacts owners of development projects during the plans review/permitting process to provide information and answer questions. Acts as the Unified Government's liaison during construction, development and redevelopment efforts for significant redevelopment infrastructure improvements. Coordinates the Unified Government's participation in public forums and other means of community input related to development and redevelopment. Communicates with key stakeholders from both the public and private sectors, and promotes the development process to potential users. Assists developers on intergovernmental issues related to Planning and Permitting. Meets with property owners to explain plans and promote good public relations; meets and provides information in agency meetings. Informs, educates, facilitates and mitigates construction related issues with community stakeholders, including businesses, residents, churches, schools, hospitals other governmental entities, community organizations and environmental groups Prepares presentations to promote community awareness and education of development services, including programs, codes, ordinances and procedures Communicates internally with Unified Government departments and externally with the development community and citizens to provide construction project information. Attends plans review meetings regularly, and planning/zoning meetings as needed. Serves as point of contact/liaison to the real estate and development community, business owners and entrepreneurs. Facilitates local business' use of the Unified Government's resources, serving as a liaison to business community, Serves as lead staff person on corridor improvement efforts, (i.e. Atlanta Highway, Lexington Road, etc), which may include the identification of the need for public infrastructure improvement, private business initiatives, and recruiting. Assists with marketing and tracking Opportunity Zones activities. Assists with the Urban Redevelopment Authority which oversees the implementation of the Unified Government's Urban Redevelopment Plan Prepares reports for the Economic Development Director and Manager reflecting current activity and the state of business in Athens-Clarke County. Maintains constant communication with the Economic Development Director; maintains and nurtures a cooperative working relationship with all Unified Government departments. Attends business/ development / association meetings. Performs other duties as assigned.

The purpose of this job is the management and coordination of business development, coordination and implementation of business and land development plans, procedures, and programs of the Unified Government and other related assigned duties.

Job Related Requirements

WORK SCHEDULE: 8am - 5pm, Monday - Friday.

May be required to work on religious holidays.

Regular and predictable attendance is required.

Must work cooperatively with others.

When requirements include vehicle operation, responsible for the safety, readiness and operation of the vehicle and must abide by ACC's safe driving policy.

Minimum Training & Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions:

Bachelor's degree in Economics, Business Administration, Public Administration, Public Relations, Construction Administration, Real Estate or related discipline; with four years of economic development, local government planning, real estate development, project management, marketing, public relations, or related experience required; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.

Must possess a valid driver's license.

Supervisory experience is preferred.
