This exempt position assists the director with the administration of all Parks and Recreation Department programs, operations, and facilities. In the process the assistant director may be assigned to such duties as evaluating the effectiveness of programs and activities; assisting in the preparation of budgets; handling public relations functions, including social media; maintaining and developing sources of revenue; working with allied volunteer organizations; and supervising staff in a department that has as many as 130 employees at times. The assistant director may also fill in for the director in his/her absence.

Broad knowledge of such fields as accounting, marketing, business administration, finance, etc. Equivalent to a four year college degree is preferred, but an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

2 years related experience and/or training, and 2 years related management experience.

Valid driver's license.
