The Wyoming Attorney General's Office seeks an attorney for the Water & Natural Resources Division to represent the State of Wyoming and the Department of Environmental Quality in litigation, enforcement, and day-to-day legal matters. This position will primarily, but not exclusively, represent the Land Quality and Industrial Siting Divisions of the Department of Environmental Quality, as well as the Abandoned Mine Lands Program. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed in the job level. Represent the State of Wyoming in state and federal court in all matters related to coal and non-coal mine permitting and enforcement. Review draft legislation to advise the Governor and clients; compose formal and informal legal opinions on questions submitted by agency clients; advise agency clients with respect to relevant statutes and administrative procedure; make strategic decisions on cases and manage work flow on cases in consultation with office leadership. Prepare and present contested cases on behalf of the Department of Environmental Quality before the Environmental Quality Council, including permit appeals, appeals of agency orders, as well as referrals to the Attorney General.
