Job Description.

The University of Southern Maine seeks applicants for a full-time, grant-funded position of Policy Assistant I for the Muskie School’s Catherine Cutler Institute on the Portland campus. The Policy Assistant I provides a high level of coordination and organizational project support to the VAWA staff that includes but is not limited to: assisting with project planning and implementation; planning and coordinating content development for, meetings, trainings, and other project-related events; assisting with the design, development and dissemination of project products and reports; supporting communication for project activities among the project director, staff and others to optimize access and to ensure timely communication and facilitation of activities relating to designing and developing training curriculum to support project activities; assisting with project data collection activities. Maintain the project website to ensure accuracy and relevance of material. This position is also required to create and develop marketing materials for the project. A secondary function of this position is to coordinate administrative procedures in support of all project activities. Required Qualifications.

Bachelors with one year of experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

One year work experience in Customer Service

Demonstrated ability in report and documentation preparation.

Strong computer skills, with proficiency using Microsoft Office, Wordpress, Adobe and In-Design

Demonstrated strong communication skills, including use of English, grammar, punctuation, and spelling

Preferred Qualifications.

Experience in a confidential or executive office setting, performing a wide range of tasks under minimal supervision

Knowledge of Mainestreet, Marketplace, CONCUR and other University of Maine Systems

Customer service and client management experience, ideally with the general public

Budget monitoring and management
