Job Description.
Under general supervision, the Operations Coordinator provides customer service and education to the Civil Rights Memorial Center visitors and guests. This person will be responsible for reception, admissions, and the gift shop while assisting the Director with tours and presentations as needed. This position will work Tuesday through Saturday.
Responsibilities
• Provide excellent customer service to visitors, members and guests;
• Greet and admit guests;
• Manage retail transactions in the gift shop, including operating cash register, and processing credit card transactions;
• Conduct tours and presentations;
• Perform administrative duties related to operations, including scheduling tours and stocking inventory.
Required Qualifications.
Education and Related Work Experience:
• College Degree (AA or BA);
• 2 Years of demonstrated success working with youth within an organizational setting (school or non- profit group);
• Excellent computer skills; must be proficient in word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs;
• Prior experience operating a cash register a plus.
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
• Knowledge of Civil Rights Movement and contemporary social justice issues;
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; must be able to make presentations to large groups;
• Must be able to work collaboratively;
• Must have strong organizational skills, follow-through, and flexibility around changing schedules, priorities and deadlines;
• Must be highly organized and possess the ability to prioritize work;
• Must be a team player.
