Job Description.
The Development Director is the chief development officer that is responsible for generating financial support, planning and coordinating events, social media, marketing, and public relations for the entire organization. This person will work closely with the Executive Director, Development Committee, and Development Associate(s) to achieve the financial objectives of the organization.
Develop, implement, and monitor an annual development plan utilizing historical giving information to plan future activities.
Develop, implement, and monitor marketing campaigns to create brand awareness and loyalty
Assist with the creation and implementation of the agency sustainability plan
Create a culture of giving outside and within the organization aligning with best practices
Secure financial support through building an individual donor base, community foundations, and corporate giving
Seek emerging trends in the field of fundraising, marketing, public relations, and nonprofit services
Provide oversight of data entry, analysis, and donor notification through a donor management system
Nurture relationships with community providers, establish working relationships, and foster a company culture of collaboration
Identify potential grant opportunities to create diversified revenue streams, expand current programming, and serve the evolving needs of the target population
Reporting outcomes to a myriad of entities, including state and federal partners
Develop communication tools with consistent messages, increasing brand awareness, and creating brand loyalty
Provide oversight for all Recovery Point social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) and work to improve visibility, share information, and promote positive work
Execute annual events while working collaboratively with other staff, development and event committee, and community vendors
Manage the Recovery Point website through a content management system with the assistance of staff, volunteers, and administrative team
Work with the Executive Director to enhance board giving
Assist the Executive Director at cultivating prospective donors
Manage the satellite office housing the development associate and other personnel, as applicable
Provide the Executive Director with detailed monthly reports on activities related to all areas of development, making suggestions for improvements
Work with other development personnel to establish individual giving in all communities that Recovery Point has established facilities
Complete numerous presentations regarding Recovery Point services, policy decisions, outcomes, and advocate on a local, state, and national level for equitable care in mental health and substance use services
Required Qualifications.
BA/BS required, master’s degree a plus. CFRE a plus. Candidate should have a minimum of two years working in the nonprofit field with an established record of event planning and fundraising. Previous experience in management will be required. Exemplary knowledge of Microsoft office platforms, Adobe Creative Suite, and familiarity with donor management platforms. Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and good driving record. In addition to the skills and knowledge listed above, the person in this position will need to be a positive role model for clients and staff; possess knowledge of diverse groups and cultural sensitivity and ability to communicate effectively with various ethical/cultural backgrounds; ability to communicate in a warm, friendly manner at all times and be able to interpret verbal and non-verbal cues; possess leadership skills, organization and time management skills; financial and budgetary knowledge; be able to adapt quickly to changing situations with rational decision making and be able to make decisions quickly. If in recovery, the individual must have a minimum of five years continuous abstinence.
Schedule Flexibility
Able to adjust schedule as needed, work some weekends and evenings, and travel at least 25% of the rime.
