Responsibilities
At the full performance level, you will provide a variety of services related to the Tribal Victim Assistance program.
If selected, you will receive formal and/or on-the-job training as needed. Duties include:
Directing dissemination of information pertinent to various tribal victim protection laws
Speaking to public, civic, industry and special interest groups on tribal Victim's issues
Coordinating efforts with local tribal victim services providers, social services,and law enforcement based victim assistance providers
Responding to tribal victim inquiries, assessing concerns, and determining program eligibility for tribal victim services
Advocating on behalf of tribal victims in regard to issues and problems caused by crime
Providing information to tribal victims on schedule changes, status of defendant's pleas, results of trial
Providing in-court support during hearings and trials
Obtaining services and assistance for tribal victims through specific federal programs and funds
Reviewing literature on tribal victim issues
Generating statistical and quantitative reports and analyses of program activity
Analyzing and applying changes in legislation, case law and court rules
Coordinating travel to hearings and meetings
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
Promotion Potential : The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.
Required Qualifications.
Specialized experience is defined as experience performing the following types of duties: supporting ongoing victim communication needs by developing and administering a comprehensive victim assistance program; and communicating effectively by utilizing a variety of written media.
Education: One of the following types of education in a related field (e.g., Criminal Justice, Social Work): a Master's or equivalent graduate degree (such as an LL.B.); OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. Education at the graduate level must be in an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position.
Combining Education and Experience : Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. In order to qualify based on a combination, graduate education must be in excess of 1 full year.
