Job Description.
The Workforce Engagement Intern will be working in a highly collaboratively team environment to develop strategies and tools to execute specific components of the disaster services workforce engagement cycle: Recruitment, On-board, Engage, Train and Place, and Recognize and Retain Volunteers. Will assist in the assessment and development of ARC programs. Conducts research related to the program and recommends processes for greater efficiency. Assist with the creation and/or maintenance of program plans and systems.
Responsibilities:
1. Unit-specific responsibilities in the scope of the job include the following:
Collaborate with Volunteer Services to develop and execute a diverse workforce recruitment strategy, plan, and host events and work
with partners to build the Red Cross volunteer base.
On-board: Welcome and support volunteers through the on-boarding and training process, identify best practices and introduce new
workforce to Red Cross Disaster Cycle Services and the team they will be working with.
Train and place: Support new workforce by introducing them to the Red Cross training system and providing information on resources available to our workforce.
Engage: Develop a process and tools for maintaining contact with the newly acquired workforce to ensure they have the resources and support needed to be successful. Recognize and Retain: Develop and implement a process and tools for retaining a strong and well trained Disaster Cycle Services team.2. May support unit with research projects.
3. Typically analyzes data, presents facts and recommends solutions.
4. May create, develop, or maintain databases for various lines of service events or projects.
5. Assist with the development of reports and other informational materials presented to management.
Required Qualifications.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Experience: Less than 1 year required
Essential Functions/Physical Requirements: Depending on work assignment, may require ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; or the ability to stand, walk and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of up to 20 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read technical information. Overall mobility is essential. May include sitting for long periods of time, driving a vehicle and working under challenging conditions.
Work Conditions: Work is performed indoors with some potential for exposure to safety and health hazards related to emergency services relief work. May travel and participate in meetings and conferences throughout
chapter jurisdiction, state and Red Cross system. Because the Red Cross is a disaster response
organization, staff may be asked to be on 24-hour call during period of major disaster.
