Job Type: Full-time

Job Description.
In January of 2007, Harrison County Habitat for Humanity and Habitat for Humanity of Jackson County merged organizations to form Habitat for Humanity of the Mississippi Gulf Coast (HFHMGC), serving families of Harrison, Jackson and Stone counties. HFHMGC was formed 16 months after Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast region.
Since the storm, the affiliate has hosted over 27,000 volunteers and has built, rehabbed, and repaired more than 1,000 homes. Over the past few years, Habitat for Humanity of the Mississippi Gulf Coast has operated under disaster recovery mode. Since its inception, the affiliate’s motivation has been to provide families with safe, affordable housing as quickly as possible. HFHMGC has moved at an extraordinary pace in order to build and rehabilitate homes and to help the people of the Mississippi Gulf Coast get back on their feet.
While affordable housing is still our goal, the economic status and need of the community have inevitably shifted, and the affiliate has moved from immediate disaster response to a long term investment of housing sustainability and community renewal. We plan to not just rebuild, but revitalize. We are here to serve the people of the Gulf Coast responsibly; we provide guidance, direction and opportunity for those willing to help themselves. We are a hand up, not a hand out and need individuals with the drive, enthusiasm, dedication and compassion to serve as AmeriCorps National and VISTA members and help us complete our mission.
Come join our great Habitat family in a beautiful, coastal location. Additional HFHMGC AmeriCorps perks include a rental stipend of $300 a month and fun local events.
