Job Description.

Partners for Education (PFE) at Berea College provides deep community support for youth and their families and works to ensure success for young people from cradle to career. As a key, full-time position with PFE, the Family Training Coordinator (FTC) utilizes evidence-based programming to drive results that ensure families are engaged and actively support their children’s learning. The FTC will provide resources and training to staff and community partners regarding effective family engagement programs; evaluate family engagement activities to assure that programming meets Promise Neighborhood program results; and work with partner agencies to offer additional research-based family engagement programming to family and staff. In addition, the FTC will work to support the sustainability of family engagement activities through collaborative efforts to ensure long-term change.

Primary duties and responsibilities:

Recruit and train (FAST) Families and Schools Together elementary teams (3-4 per year)
Collaborate with the community to sustain (FAST) Family and Schools Together and other Family Engagement programming in the area
Develop and enhance partnerships to assist in providing quality research based family engagement programs
Provide budgetary information to Project Directors regarding funding needs for family engagement programs
Provide training on best practices for family engagement to early childhood practitioners and school staff
Collaborate with Early Childhood Navigators, Early Childhood Literacy Navigators, Family Navigators and other PFE staff to develop, coordinate, and provide events
Contribute local news updates to social media team
Report quantitative and qualitative data to project director in a timely manner
Ensure timely collection and analysis of data and dissemination of results
Other roles/duties will be assigned as necessary to assist the College in the attainment of the goals set forth and the enhancement of a positive, respectful learning environment for all staff, faculty and students.

Required Qualifications.

Education required to ensure success in this position: Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling or a related field, required

Experience required to ensure success in this position: Experience providing direct services to rural, high poverty families Five years’ experience developing and coordinating partnerships between postsecondary institutions and public schools, community organizations, parent organizations and non-profit organizations

Special skills, knowledge and abilities: Excellent trainer and communicator Superior interpersonal and organizational skills Familiarity with the local Eastern Ky. community including knowledge of available social services that provide assistance to low-income families and their enrollment criteria Experience assisting in the design, implementation and evaluation of high quality programs Ability to work in a team environment Commitment to students from diverse economic, social and cultural backgrounds Proficient computer skills, including data processing and spreadsheet experience Familiarity with Families and Schools Together (FAST) program, elementary level Experience in early childhood development and support families of young children

License, certification, or registration necessary: A valid driver’s license Background check, including social media check

Physical requirements: Ability to work with high energy students or parents all day Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds

Environmental conditions: Work primarily in Partners For Education Hazard, KY office Occasional travel required throughout Eastern Ky. and US Routine office environment with interruptions and noise due to frequent visitors

Ability to operate the following vehicles or equipment: Standard Office Equipment – computer, telephone, fax machine Motor vehicle
