Job Description.

Essential Duties:
Provide strategic direction and guidance for the Global Disaster Program (GDP).
Manage Emergency Response Specialists (ERS) including mentoring/coaching and ensuring they are properly coordinated and building on synergy and technical expertise.
Provide critical input ensuring the GDP strategic goals and objectives are clearly linked to the wider CROP and CWS strategies, including identifying strategic and operational opportunities with international emergency response programming.
Support and expand GDP partnerships including with the CROP Advisory Group (CAG), National and State VOADs, FEMA, IRP and field service providers.
Provide the primary liaison function for the GDP Mapping Initiative with San Jose State University and other academic institutions. Link Mapping Initiative to other CROP program areas as appropriate.
Work closely with the Assoc Director of PME ensuring that the GDP is committed to internal ‘Learning’ and provide leadership to ensure the CAG benefits from this process.
Present and represent the GDP at CAG/NVOAD and other key strategic meetings and workshops/conferences.
Lead efforts to build linkages between the GDP and the CROP International Emergency Response Programs ensuring that staff and material resources and best practices are shared globally.
Ensure that the entire Global Disaster team is able and available on short notice for possible short-term deployment to support international emergency response efforts.
Support and collaborate with the Senior Director Global Programs (SDGP) chairing CAG bi-annual meetings and emergency response coordination calls.
Work closely with the Associate Directors for PME and Resource Mobilization developing proposals, ME plans, evaluations and reports to expand the DDP funding base and ensure data driven programming.
Work closely with the Communications team to provide materials ensuring dynamic, timely GDP materials for web/social media platforms and Funds Development and Marketing (FDM) team support.
Manage the GDP budget including Kits/Blankets budget (liaising with the NY-based Grants Processing and Material Resource Manager) to ensure proper resource management and compliance.
Work closely with the FDM Director of Congregational Giving to ensure clear strategies and planning for FDM support to the Material Asset component of the DDP
Work with the SDGP to explore partnerships with private sector and ecumenical partners to create a more efficient and effective Material Asset program.
Ensure the GDP program complies with CWS policies and procedures.
Provide regular reports and updates to the SDGP and key internal and external stakeholders
Required Qualifications.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., International Development, Non-Profit Management, Emergency Response, Human Rights, Public Policy, Political Science); a Master’s degree in a related field is strongly preferred.
Skills and Experience:
Three to five years experience in humanitarian or development work
Extensive experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations
Experience with emergency preparedness and response programming
Experience on short-notice deployments to domestic and international disaster settings
Knowledge of domestic emergency response networks
Experience managing and building strong operational teams
Experience and commitment to developing and supporting both operational and strategic partnerships
Excellent writing, oral communication, and analytical skills
Creative with ability to operationalize innovation
Strong relational and facilitation skills
Ability to travel domestically and internationally; must hold a valid passport
Authorization to work in the US required
