Job Description:
Educate all levels of government about Allison Transmission
Develop corporate strategies, policies and plans which align with laws, regulations and standards. Lead analysis of proposed legislative actions, determine the potential impact on the organization and develop appropriate responses
Articulate Allison’s positions to legislators and others with authority to make decisions that affect the company using data, science, and facts as foundation for persuasion
Represent Allison and maintain a positive relationship with local, state and federal leaders and organizations that can be accessed to benefit the company’s objectives
Interact with federal government representatives in Congress and agencies
Help develop and support activities of Allison teams responsible for regulatory compliance
Be proactive with federal staffs
Monitor and provide concise communications regarding local, state and federal legislation affecting Allison Transmission
Collaborate with Allison business teams to identify issues and develop watch lists and goals for local, state, and federal legislative initiatives; track and advocate on the identified initiatives and provide feedback to the business teams and staff using metrics to track progress and success
Develop a wide range of materials in support of Allison’s government relations agenda, such as talking points, legislative summaries, fact sheets, testimony, reports and letters
Coordination and support of Allison Executive Staff interactions with federal, state, and local governmental representatives
Plan and implement events or other activities to support Allison’s government relations goals.
Interact, as necessary, with any foreign governmental bodies before which Allison needs to be represented
Direct outside government relations consultants in development and deployment of strategies to influence policy outcomes
This role will serve as Allison’s registered lobbyist
Follow all campaign finance and lobbying laws and enforce compliance with local, state and federal reporting requirements
Represent Allison on trade organizations
Coordinate activities with Sales and Marketing and ensure that Allison is engaged with the government affairs elements of the trade organizations
Represent Allison Transmission at civic and/or community functions where necessary; e.g., luncheons, dinners, including corporate activities
Required Qualifications.
Skills Required:
Bachelor’s Degree or more
Working knowledge of local, state and federal government structures and key officials
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strategic thinking
Ability to organize strategy independently and to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with limited oversight
Travel as required, could be monthly
U.S. Person or Permanent Resident
Skills Preferred:
Writing experience
Knowledge of manufacturing operations
Proven record of accomplishments in the legislative environment
Prior experience as lobbyist
